Concerned citizens proposing private and government action on local, county and state issues in South Florida often need a coordinated and constructive effort to get their message across to achieve success. Communities and neighborhoods working for better public policy, development, re-zoning and land use changes can benefit from a technical and personal public relations campaign using internet/media and citizen advocacy strategies, including issue-oriented web sites.

"How To Affect The Outcome" presentations are available, by appointment, to help civic groups, homeowner associations and business interests explore public initiatives to improve our community.

In 2007, Mr. Chester worked with Central Broward residents to eliminate a proposed $200,000,000 elevated skyway over Interstate 595. In large part due to public opposition organized by Mr. Chester with other concerned citizens, the Florida Department of Transportation decided to eliminate a planned 6-7 mile bridge over the Town of Davie and the City of Plantation. A formal announcement was made by FDOT on September 24.  Final approval of the re-designed project by the Federal Highway Administration has been granted. For more information on this effort, check out www.595Alert.org.

In 2005, Mr. Chester worked with a group of homeowners to alter the building plans of IKEA, which had planned to build a superstore in the Town of Davie. The result...It is now in the City of Sunrise, and away from 3 local schools and the Davie Police/Fire Department, all of which would have been adversely impacted by overwhelming retail traffic.

Starting in 2006, Mr. Chester has advocated with noted author Ellis Traub in favor of the proposed Davie Commons project, which is currently going through the governmantal approval process.

The Town of Davie has conditionally approved the project, which has the potential to create 5,000 to 6,000 new jobs and millions of dollars in tax revenue for the Town for years to come. See www.DavieCommonSense.org here.

Long range projects include www.SharedEmergency.com, an initiative designed to publicize the growing problem of mobile home displacement and provide a forum for discussion of urgent issues confronting manufactured home communities across Florida and the rest of the nation.
